Stories from the heart
I Owe A Lot To Brad
In 1979 I mixed an opening act for Maria Muldair at Bushnell Park in Hartford, Connecticut. It was the Ten Years Late Jug Band, Howie Horn, Peter Menta and Stan Alexander with amazing talented side men like Stacy Phillips. When I started working for them, I knew NOTHING. I earned $35 per show. Drive and fascination with the business, I learned as much as I could like someone lost on a desert looking for water. The owner of Snow Sound, the sound company providing support for this concert, Brad Snow offered me a job as a freelancer to become a part of his crew. I owe a lot to Brad. The adventures began there, so long ago. So this is the start of my first blog. It will be some new projects and a lot of memories. Hang in. We will have fun.
Stories From The Heart
“Stories from the heart” was the original mission statement when I started Silver Lake Productions. I wanted my work to be something different than what I had been doing.
I have knowledge and passion for all the different elements that make up storytelling, both technically and spiritually. I want to make a positive impact with my work. My work is something I have always been passionate about no matter what stage of my career I was living. My resume is varied: live sound reinforcement, theater, large concerts, stage managing, sports production, video, working in the non-profit universe, and more.
Everything I did and do I learned from watching so many talented, brilliant people. Sometimes I learned what to do and how to treat people. Sometimes I learned what not to do and how not to treat people. Looking back, truth be told, there were times I would have fired me if I worked for me. I too am a work in progress-to this day. To quote John Reardon, a swim coach from my high school years, “It’s all a part of growing up.” It is also learning on this journey we call life. Coach Reardon had a big impact on me. I wish I could have told him that as an adult.
I love telling stories. My season for gatherings that will help those we serve begins. Research for stories and interviews will start. Some of my writing will be updates of our work and the fun we have. Some of this will be a bit of nostalgia of amazing stories of past projects.
Thanks.
